HanyuLab is a Mandarin language learning platform operated by Pearson Wang Group. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you use our website and services.

2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and chosen password (stored securely via Clerk). Tutors additionally provide biographical information, qualifications, and availability.
Usage Data
We collect information about how you interact with the Platform — pages visited, flashcards studied, features used, and session durations. This is used to improve the product and personalise your experience.
Payment Information
We do not store your full card details. Payment processing is handled by third-party providers (e.g. Stripe). We retain records of transaction amounts and dates for accounting purposes.
Communications
If you contact us by email or submit a form, we retain the content of that communication to respond to you and improve our support.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Platform
- To match learners with appropriate tutors
- To process payments and send transaction confirmations
- To send product updates, lesson reminders, and account notifications
- To respond to support requests
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We will not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third parties to operate the Platform:
- Clerk — authentication and account management
- Stripe — payment processing
- Vercel — website hosting and delivery
Each third party operates under their own privacy policy and data processing agreements. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.
5. Cookies
We use essential cookies to maintain your session and preferences. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work correctly as a result.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. financial records, which are kept for 7 years).
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under GDPR, CCPA, or applicable law:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format

- Opt-out of sale — we do not sell data, so this does not apply

8. Children's Privacy
HanyuLab is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email before material changes take effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
